  • Your content marketing strategy is the big overview of your business plan for content marketing across various marketing channels. Marketing strategies include a clear definition of your target audience, your business goals and objectives, content themes or pillars, and establishing your unique value proposition.

    A content marketing plan goes into the more practical part of your marketing strategy. It’s a calendar filled with topic ideas generated through keyword research and analysis so you know what to write about. And this all goes back to support your overall marketing strategy for your woman-owned business.

    Think of the content marketing strategy as the “why” and the content marketing plan as the “how.”

  • I have a 6-step process for keyword research I use as a website content writer for moms and women. I’ll explain it in more detail when we start our project, but here is a general outline:

    • Create a list of relevant keywords based on research from your website and target market.

    • Brainstorm medium and long-tail keyword phrases that connect to each topic.

    • Compile a list of search terms for the keywords in steps 1 & 2.

    • Conduct competitor keyword analysis using Ubersuggest.

    • Filter the keywords to analyze search volume and competition.

    • Put the keywords into a content calendar, creating content clusters with a good mix of high and low-competition keywords.

  • Your content calendar is developed using in-depth keyword research and analysis.

    The keywords most effective for increasing your traffic will then be featured in the blog post titles that we’ll use in your calendar. Each content title will include primary and secondary keyword phrases.

    I’ll also include search intent results based on top-ranking SERPs (search engine results pages) so you can format your content based on what consumers are looking for.

    For example, if they’re looking for answers to questions, a how-to guide will be better than a thought piece. But if they’re searching to buy, then a comparison of products will work better than a how-to guide.

    You’ll have at least 6 months' worth of topics and titles that can be published every week – or at your chosen frequency. It’s all designed to increase your website’s organic search traffic.

  • I usually recommend you fix any SEO issues you have on your website once you have your content marketing strategy.

    You can do this yourself by running a free website audit on Ubersuggest or other SEO sites. Or you can have me take care of it for you.
